Product Certification Process
Program Description
The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute establishes an ISA100 Wireless Compliant designation, to identify and promote ISA100 Wireless Systems for Industrial Automation standards compliant products and systems. Certification provides instant recognition of the wireless communication characteristics to users, integrators, and the buying public, creating a key differentiator for that product or system.
Compliance Testing
Test Specification
ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute members, working with technical staff retained by the Institute, has developed a conformity assessment scheme based on ISA100 industrial wireless communication standards. This document will be available on this site when formally reviewed and approved by the Institute.
Testing
In addition to establishing a way of certifying compliant products, the ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute establishes a means of testing products via accredited test agencies. Compliance assessment will include testing by independent test agencies. A key guiding principle is to utilize suppliers’ existing capabilities and relationships with test agencies to minimize administrative/logistical needs in processing conformance testing.
Supplier organizations desiring to have devices tested and registered by a WCI accredited test lab should contact the lab directly. The application and testing is done confidentially, protecting applicants’ intellectual property and marketplace strategy. Accredited WCI test labs are listed on the Accredited ISA100.11a Test Agencies page on this website.
Registration
The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute establishes a means for registering compliant products, including a page on the ISA100wci web site listing ISA100 Wireless Compliant products; and provides a means for communicating successful compliance results to members and the buying public. Products passing the WCI conformance testing at the WCI accredited test lab will be listed on the ISA100.11a Registered Products page of this website.
ISA100 Standards Continuous Improvement
During test development and conformity assessment activities, personnel may uncover gaps, deficiencies, and/or clarifications needed in existing wireless communication standards used to derive the ISA100 Wireless Compliant requirements. The findings will be conveyed to the ISA100 Standards Committee via a formal liaison with the goal of rapidly refining relevant, comprehensive international consensus standards.
